Sequential Circuits Six-Trak

In 1984, Sequential Circuits with the Sequential Circuits Six -Trak first " multitimbral " synthesizer on the market.

So far, only one tone per synth was possible with the Sequential Circuits Six -Trak, six different tones are produced simultaneously. With the Six -Trak Sequential Circuits also operated the lower price regions. This led to the demise of the company in 1987.

Construction

The construction of the Six -Trak is no different from the much more expensive models Prophet ( Prophet5, Prophet10, Prophet T8). Left and right limits with wood, plastic and powder-coated keyboard user interface. The Six -Trak has neither velocity nor aftertouch. In addition to the newly created MIDI Interface 5 pin DIN, only IN and OUT, there is also a FOOT SWITCH CONTROLLER and of course the power port on the back ( Internal power supply ). Foreign manufacturer also offered conversion kits, which allowed individual outputs of the individual voices.

Technology

The Sequential Circuits Six -Trak was the first synthesizer ever, which could produce more than one tone. The newly created MIDI interface, and the ability to store user-programmed presets, showed the direction in which the developments would go. The Six -Trak has six oscillators, each can play a distinct timbre. This is in the Sequenzer-/Stack- and by MIDImode5 possible.

Operation

In order to benefit Live from the new technology, the so-called " STACK MODE" has been introduced. This allows you to create six different ( or identical ) Tones on a button. Thus, for example, Bass producible, which are not possible with any other synthesizer. For technical reasons, the synthesizer is then monophonic.
