Sequential Pattern Mining

A sequence pattern is the uniform sequence of items in transactions. The searching of sequential patterns is a method of data mining. To cite an example, is asked the following question from transactions with clients purchases: " Which items are purchased sequentially? ". Not to be confused is the sequence pattern with association analysis, which raises the question: "Which items are purchased together."

For the detection of sequence patterns, the transaction database and the transaction time and togetherness feature must contain (eg, customer number) next to the items of the transaction.

Principle sequence pattern recognition

The algorithm for finding sequence patterns is structured as follows:

Areas of application

Bioinformatics: protein sequences in the DNA analysis. DNA consists of four bases (A, C, G, T) and 20 amino acids. The task in many areas of bioinformatics is to determine the possible long similar sequences.

Web Mining: sequence of visited web pages. The sequence of the visited web pages that lead to a successful shopping in a store or to a termination can be used to improve the web presence.
