The nuclear power plant Sequoyah is a U.S. nuclear power plant near the city of Soddy - Daisy in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The power plant consists of two largely identical Westinghouse four -loop pressurized water reactors and draws its cooling water from the Chickamauga Lake, one created by damming the Tennessee River reservoir. In order to reduce the heat input into the river, the power plant has two wet tensile cooling towers.

History

The nuclear power plant is named after a Cherokee Indian who lived in the region and the first alphabet and thus also the first written form of communication of his tribe invented.

The construction of the power plant started in 1969 with the first excavation work, the actual construction activities followed a year later.

Meanwhile, the operator TVA has built a Trocklenlager for storage of spent fuel at the site. They are stored in Castor -like storage containers.
