Sera (company)

The sera GmbH, based in North Rhine-Westphalia Heinberg is a German manufacturer in the field of aquarium, marine aquarist, pond and terrarium. The medium-sized company distributes its products in 80 countries and has eight offices in the U.S., France, Italy, Japan, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Portugal and China.

The company sera is, according to the organizers of the International Pet Congress in Berlin in 2006, a " leading global provider of products for the care of aquariums, ponds and terrariums ." History

In 1970, Josef Ravnak together with his wife Anny the company sera. Previously Ravnak worked in the fishing and resale of live food. Basis of the product range was a novel freeze - vacuum process for the production of dry food. How could natural state food such as shrimp or bloodworms, are stored outside the refrigerator without great loss of nutrients.

In addition to foods, products for water treatment and care of aquarium plants, remedies for aquarium fish as well as a water test series - for fresh and sea water - developed sera end of the 1970s, an additional garden pond range. Then also products for reptiles were added to our program.

The company is expanding, so was a new administration building at the site Heinberg built and covered, among others, in 2007.

Production
