The Serbian Hound ( Srpski Gonic, also Serbian Hound) is one of the FCI (No. 150, Gr. 6, sec 1.2) recognized breed from Serbia.

Name

The Serbian Hound was formerly known under the name "Balkan Hound " or " Balkan Hound ". The FCI changed the name in 1996 in " Serbian Hound ".

Origin and History

The Serbian Hound was originally spread along the border with Bulgaria. Probably wore small Asian hounds to the development of this breed. For the first time the breed in 1905 by Franz Laska was mentioned, the first standard was established in 1924. The FCI recognized the breed 1940. The control of the breed has taken over the Yugoslav Canine Association.

Description

Old, the Balkans for 250 years virtually unchanged race. The dogs are medium in size up to 56 cm. The coat is dense, close-fitting, available in red with black mantle or saddle. As with almost all breeds of hunting dogs ears are pendulous, tall and thin.

Use

This pad is typically used as Beagle, Hunting, also in the pack to red deer and wild boar and small game and used, as well as a companion dog.
