Seregno

Seregno is a municipality with 43,568 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Monza and Brianza in the Italian region Lombardy.

Geography

History

End of the 19th century Seregno was a market town in the Italian province of Milan in a circle Monza, on the railway from Milan to Como, with an octagonal, but unfinished church, cotton and silk industry, carpentry, major trading and 6139 inhabitants ( 1881). 1884 Olivetans Abbey was founded in 1895 and dedicated to their neo-Romanesque abbey church.

Traffic

The town lies on the railway line Milan -Como, Seregno - Novara and Seregno - Usmate. A streetcar (tram ) Desio - Seregno - Giussano was opened in 1881. On the railway line Milano - Chiasso was until 2008 TILO of the S -Bahn line Milan ( Centrale / Porta Garibaldi) - Monza - Seregno - Chiasso operated - since Trenitalia. Furthermore, there are regional bus services on Lissone Monza.
