Serge Aubin

Serge Aubin (* February 15, 1975 in Val- d'Or, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who, in the course of his career, including for the Colorado Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets and Atlanta Thrashers in the National Hockey League, the Geneva -Servette HC and Fribourg- Gottéron was active as a center in the National League A and for the Hamburg Freezers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Aubin NHL Entry Draft in 1994 in the seventh round at 161 point out, after he had spent his youth in the Quebec Major Junior Time Hockey League with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and the Granby Bisons. From 1995, he then played for several minor league teams, including the Hampton Roads Admirals in the East Coast Hockey League and the American Hockey League for Syracuse Crunch. Pittsburgh broke the contract with Aubin in December 1998 and the Colorado Avalanche took him as a free agent contract.

After this change, he went for the Hershey Bears on the ice, but he could make his NHL debut in the jersey of the Avalanche. He spent the following season in Hershey, but was nominated for 15 games in the NHL squad and was able to convince, so that he graduated from the entire playoffs for the Stanley Cup for Colorado. The Avalanche lost the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Stars 4-3 and extended the contract with Aubin not, so this was taken by the Columbus Blue Jackets under contract.

Aubin played 2000/ 01 his first full NHL season, which was his best so far point with 13 goals and 17 assists. After a second season in Columbus, he returned as a free agent with the Colorado Avalanche, but a year later he was put on the waiver list and commissioned by the Atlanta Thrashers under contract. In the 2003 /04 season he reached 25 points scorer in 66 games.

During the lockout the NHL season 2004/ 05 was one of Aubin 388 NHL players who bridged the strike at European clubs. He signed with HC Servette Geneve in Switzerland, but returned for the 2005/ 06 back to the Thrashers and scored seven goals in 74 games and had 17 assists. After the season, he again received an offer from Geneva and was engaged for three years. In the playoffs, the NLA 2006/ 07 Servette was eliminated in the first round - Serge Aubin then moved along with Kirby Law on loan for EHC Biel in the National League B, to support the EHC in the playoff finals and relegation matches. From the 2009/10 season playing for Fribourg- Aubin Gottéron before he moved to the Hamburg Freezers 2011.

In European Trophy game on September 2, 2012 against the Polar Bears Berlin Aubin retired to a compound fracture of the base joint of the left thumb, as he blocked a shot. After several operations and a still limited function of the joint Aubin ended on January 15, 2013 with immediate effect his professional career. From 2011 to End of career denied Serge Aubin for the Hamburg Freezers 51 DEL games. Aubin scored 14 goals and 20 assists.

Since the Canadians as 2013 assistant coach has been with the Freezers.
