Sergei Babinov

Sergei Panteleimonowitsch Babinow (Russian: Сергей Пантелеймонович Бабинов; born November 7, 1955 in Chelyabinsk, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player.

Career

During his career, the defender played for HC Traktor Chelyabinsk, HK Krylia Sovetov Moscow and CSKA Moscow. Overall, he scored 29 goals in 452 games in the Soviet league. He was appointed to the team of Soviet national ice hockey team early on. On 13 November 1975 he was in a game against Czechoslovakia for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games in 1976. For the national team, he scored 18 goals in 162 internationals. The Ice Hockey World Championships, he was four times with his team world champion (1979, 1981, 1982 and 1983). In 1979, he was inducted into the "Russian Hockey Hall of Fame". On January 29, 1984 he played his last international match.
