Sergei Ivanovich Tiulpanov

Sergei Ivanovich Tjulpanow ( alternate spelling: SI Tulpanov ) (* October 3, 1901, † 16 February 1984 in Leningrad) was a Soviet officer and social scientists. He was known 1945-1949 as a member of the Soviet Military Administration in Germany (SMAD ).

Life

Tjulpanow was a career officer in 1927 and joined the CPSU in. As Commissioner regiment he was a teacher at military installations and studied at the same time 1930-36 social sciences and economics in Leningrad ( Doctor ). During the Great Terror in 1937-38 he hid for a year as a worker on a collective farm. From 1938 he was again active as a teacher, since 1941 also in the training nature of the party. 1941-45 he was head of the Political Department to various sectors of the front.

From October 1945 to September 1949, he led the rank of colonel propaganda and information department of the SMAD. In this capacity he had many contacts with the politicians of the KPD, SPD and (from 1946) SED, including Walter Ulbricht. He forced the 1946 merger of the SPD and the KPD and the SED from 1948, the development of its own statehood in the field of SBZ to Soviet models.

1949 Tjulpanow was recalled from Germany and promoted to major general. He was a teacher at the Leningrad Naval Academy and from 1957 civilian high school teacher at the Leningrad State University.

In 1976 he was awarded with the Order of the GDR Star of Friendship of Nations in gold.
