Sergei Kapustin

Sergei Alexeyevich Kapustin (Russian: Сергей Алексеевич Капустин; born February 13, 1953 in Uchta, † June 4, 1995 in Moscow) was a Soviet ice hockey player.

Career

During his career, played the striker at Krylia Sovetov Moscow, CSKA Moscow and HK HK Spartak Moscow. In all, he scored 277 goals in 517 games in the Soviet league. He was appointed to the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team. On November 5, 1972, he was in a game against Finland for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games in 1976. For the national team, he scored 120 goals in 208 internationals. On 21 December 1985 he played his last international match. In 1975, he was inducted into the "Russian Hockey Hall of Fame". NHL Entry Draft 1982, he was selected in the 7th round to 141 instead of the New York Rangers. The season 1987/88 he spent in Austria, playing for the EC Salzburg.
