Sergei Zhukov (ice hockey)

Sergei Petrovich Zhukov (Russian: Сергей Петрович Жуков; born November 23, 1975 in Novosibirsk, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who played mainly during his playing career for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl on the position of the defender.

Career

Zhukov began playing hockey in his native city of Novosibirsk. There he played until the 1994/95 season in the HK Sibir Novosibirsk. In the course of the season he moved to Torpedo Yaroslavl. With Yaroslavl he won in 1997, 2002 and 2003 the title of the Russian master. In addition, he was vice-champion in 2008 and 2009. In his career, the defender was awarded in 2004 and 2010 as the fairest players in the Super League and Kontinental Hockey League. On July 22, 2011, Zhukov said his playing career ended.

Internationally

Zhukov represented his native country for the first time at the World Championships in 1998. More gigs followed at the World Championships 2001 World Championships, World Cup 2002 and World Cup 2006. Doing so, he won in 2002 with the team silver medal, which simultaneously gave him the honor as Honored Master of Sports of Russia in hockey.

Furthermore, was the defender in the squad at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. In the same year he won with Russia and the Euro Hockey Tour.
