Sergei Zinovjev

Sergei Zinoviev Olegovich (Russian: Сергей Олегович Зиновьев; born March 4, 1980 in Prokopjewsk, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is since 2009 in Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Sergei Zinoviev began his career as a hockey player in the junior department of Metallurg Novokuznetsk, for the first team, he was active in the Russian Super League from 1997 to 2000. The 2000/01 season he joined Salavat Yulaev Ufa and finished it with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Subsequently, the Center played each a year for the HK Spartak Moscow and Ak Bars Kazan. The season 2003/ 04 he joined the Boston Bruins, who had chosen him already in the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 in the third round as a total 73 players. In the National Hockey League but he could not prevail and only played ten games for Boston. He also stood in four games for the Providence Bruins farm team in the American Hockey League on the ice. The majority of the playing time he finally spent in the Super League with his former club Ak Bars Kazan, where he was a fixture in the following years. In the 2005/06 season he was with the team Champion of Russia. At European level, he won with the Kazan 2007 IIHF European Champions Cup and a year later the IIHF Continental Cup.

For the 2008/09 season Ak Bars Kazan was inducted into the newly formed Continental Hockey League. Subsequently, the club shortened the content of Zinoviev, so the leagues head of KHL canceled his contract. A short time later he moved to HK Dynamo Moscow. For the 2009/10 season he joined Salavat Yulaev Ufa and won with the team the following season the Gagarin Cup.

Internationally

For Russia Zinoviev took part in the junior level only at the U20 Junior World Championship 2000, where he won the silver medal with his team. In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the World Championships in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011 and at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. At the World Championships in 2005 and 2007 he won the bronze at the World Championships in 2008 and 2009 even the gold medal with his team. In addition, he represented Russia in the years 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 in the Euro Hockey Tour.
