Sergey Galitsky

Sergei Nikolaevich Galitsky (Russian: Сергей Николаевич Галицкий, english Sergey Galitsky, born August 14, 1967 in Lazarevskoe, district of Sochi, USSR ) is a Russian businessman and billionaire. He is the founder of retail chain Magnit and president of the football club FK Krasnodar.

Life and career

Sergei Galitsky was born in 1967 in Lazarevskoe, a district of Sochi. He studied until 1993 economics at the State University of Kuban. In 1994 he founded under the name " Tander " a retail chain. In 1998 he opened under the name Magnit its first supermarket; more stores soon followed.

Magnit grew within a few years to a billion dollar enterprise. Today Magnit is not only one of the largest retail chains of Russia, but also one of the largest Russian companies. In 2008, Galitsky founded the football club FK Krasnodar, which he was president until today.
