Sergey Nikolaevich Starostin

Sergei Nikolaevich Starostin (Russian: Сергей Николаевич Старостин, in English transcription and on the record cover ever Sergey Starostin; * January 1, 1956 in Moscow ) is a Russian jazz and world music clarinetist and singer.

Starostin was a member of a children's choir and studied from 1976 to 1981 clarinet at the Moscow Conservatory. When traveling through the Soviet Union, he collected stories, folk music and traditional folk instruments. Since 1982, he gave seminars for singing and traditional instruments. In 1987 he received its own radio broadcast in which he introduced folk music, since 1991, he also launched a TV show.

In the Soviet Union Starostin became acquainted with the Farlanders, a folk rock band which he led together with the singer Inna Schelannaja. In 1990, he joined the duo Mikhail Alperin / Arkady Shilkloper, with which it forms the Moscow Art Trio.

In addition Starostin worked ( Winter In Moscow), the ensemble bylina, the folk quartet Slawitschi, the folk theater Bratschina and the A cappella group Kasatschi club to Sami singer Mari Boine.
