Sergey Syrtsov

Sergei Alexandrovich Syrzow (Russian: Сергей Александрович Сырцов, scientific transliteration Sergei Aleksandrovich Syrcov; born October 25, 1966) is a former Russian weightlifter and sports official.

Sporting career

His greatest successes celebrated Sergei Syrzow at the 1992 Summer Olympics and 1996 Summer Olympics, where he was able to win a silver medal in the weight category up to 90 kg with 412.5 kg and in the weight category up to 108 kg and 420 kg respectively. He also won two World Championships in 1991 in the category up to 90 kg with a total capacity of 410 kg, and 1994 in the category up to 99 kg with 417.5 kg and took three silver medals at the World Championships in 1989, 1993 and 1995. Besides, two gold medals in 1994 1995 and a silver medal in 1989, which he had taken at the European Championships.

Coaches and officials

After ending his playing career Syrzow was among other things the Russian junior team coach. Since April 2010 he has been President of the Russian Weightlifting Federation.
