Sergio Bergamelli

Sergio Bergamelli ( born August 16, 1970 in Alzano Lombardo ) is an Italian former Alpine skier. Like his younger brothers Giancarlo, Norman and Thomas, he was a specialist in the disciplines of giant slalom and slalom.

Career

Bergamelli first appeared at the Junior World Championship in 1988 internationally in appearance, when he won the silver medal in the giant slalom. The following year, he became Junior World Champion in slalom and giant slalom won the bronze medal. In the 1988/89 season he finished fifth in the overall standings of the European Cup, in the 1989/90 season in fourth place.

On November 23, 1991 Bergamelli won his first points in the World Cup when he came eleventh in the giant slalom at Park City. A few weeks later, on January 5, 1992, he won the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora. The World Cup 1991/92 season he finished in eighth place of the giant slalom standings. However, these achievements he could not confirm the 1992/93 and 1994 he fell because of an injury from almost all year.

In the following years Bergamelli drove Although regularly in the top 20, but with the world's best, he could not keep up, so that he often came into use in European Cup and FIS races.
