Sergiu Costin

Sergiu Ioan Viorel Costin ( born November 21, 1978 in Bistrita ) is a Romanian football player. The center-back has since January 2006 Oţelul Galaţi in Liga 1 under contract.

Career

The career of Costin began in his hometown of Bistrita in Gloria Bistrita. In 1997 he came into the squad for the first team, which played into the Divizia A. In his first season he came only to sporadic inserts, so he was loaned for the season 1998/99 to the second division Unirea Dej, with whom he had to dismount at the end of the season. After his return to Gloria re- lending was agreed - this time with the descended straight from the Divizia A Olimpia Satu Mare. Here he became a team regular and was also able to win this status in Bistrita after his return. With his team he could be placed in the following years continuously in the upper middle and always to qualify for the UEFA Intertoto Cup. The best result this time was a third place in the 2002/03 season.

At the beginning of 2006, Costin left his hometown and joined the league rivals Oţelul Galaţi. Even with his new club, he established himself as a regular force in defense. With Oţelul he finished the following seasons in the middle of League 1 This changed when Dorinel Munteanu was head coach in 2009. After a fifth place in 2009/10 he won in the 2010/11 season with the championship his first title.
