Serie A2 (ice hockey)

The 2a Divisione (full name: la 2a Divisione di hockey su ghiaccio until 2013 Series A2) is below the Elite.A the second highest professional hockey league in Italy. The league is organized by the Italian Ice Sports Federation.

In the 2013/14 season, five teams from Northern Italy contest the championship.

Season 2011/12

Mode: Basic Passage: double Return rounds, a total of 42 games per team. The two-point best teams qualify directly for the playoff semi-finals, while the third - to sixth-placed the regular season, the two other participants play in the pre- play-offs for the playoff semifinals. For the seventh - and eighth-placed clubs in the regular season, the season is completed after completion of the 42 games.

Play-off: Six teams will contest the play-off. Pre- Play-off ( " best-of -five " ), semi-final ( "best - of-seven " ), final ( "best - of-seven ").

Points regime: victory after 60 minutes, there are three points. If there is a tie after regulation time, there is a five-minute extension and - if necessary - a shootout. The winner of the extension ( or the penalty shootout) receives two, the loser one point.

Aliens: are eligible to play four foreigners. Two of them can come from non-EU countries. Should a team use a foreign goalkeeper, only two foreign field players may be on the ice.
