Serik Akhmetov

Biography

Akhmetov in 1986 was the first secretary of the regional committee of Komsomol in the region of Karaganda. From 1990 to 1993 he graduated from the Russian Academy of Management and subsequently worked for the metallurgical combine in Karaganda.

From 2001 to 2003, Akhmetov mayor of his hometown Temirtau. In the following two years he occupied the post of deputy mayor of the Kazakh capital Astana. On 25 September 2006 he was the President as Minister of Transport and Communications, before he became Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. On 19 November 2009 he was appointed by the decree of the President of Kazakhstan to Äkim the Karaganda region.

On January 20, 2012, Akhmetov first Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. Since 24 September 2012, he is Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
