Sermitsiaq (newspaper)

Sermitsiaq ( old spelling: Sermitsiak ') is next to the second Atuagagdliutit Greenlandic newspaper that is distributed nationwide.

Sermitsiaq appear on Greenlandic language in Nuuk, Greenland's capital since 21 May 1958. It is named after the landmark of the city, the mountain Sermitsiaq, which is also depicted in the logo of the newspaper. Originally Sermitsiaq was the Greenlandic version of the Danish -language newspaper mikken. Mikken Sermitsiaq was on Saturdays, Mondays published. Short term came out Sermitsiaq bilingual until 1958 mikken was finally closed down in November.

Until 1980, the newspaper was sold only as a local paper in the area of Nuuk. The extension to nationwide distribution was also associated with a stronger political orientation in the course of 1979 achieved self-government in Greenland.
