History

Traces show a prehistoric settlement since about 3000 BC Also Romans lived here. The present town was founded in the course of settlement policy in the context of the Reconquista new. The first mention of the modern village dates from the year 960 AD the late 10th century conquered the castle of Almansor Sernancelhe until 1055 Ferdinand I. the Moors expelled from the region.

First City rights were granted place in 1124, the King Alfonso II in 1220 confirmed. King Manuel I renewed the city rights 1514.
