Serrone

Serrone is a municipality in the province of Frosinone in the Italian region Latium, located about 3046 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is 59 km east of Rome and 40 km northwest of Frosinone.

Geography

Serrone is situated on a spur of Mount Scalambra in a panoramic position between the valleys of the Sacco and the Aniene. It is a member of the Comunità Montana Monti Ernici.

History

Serrone was in pre-Roman times a fortified settlement of Hernici. In the Roman period, it was primarily an agricultural center with Villae Rusticae. At the end of the Roman Empire there were in the area of the district of San Quirico a Christian community. In the 10th century it came to the Benedictine monks of Subiaco.

Policy

Maurizio Proietto (PD ) was elected in May 2003 to the Mayor and confirmed in April 2008 in the Official. His left Civil List ( Lista Girasole ) also provides 8 out of 12 seats, the majority in the City Council.
