Service Delivery Platform

A Service Delivery Platform (SDP ) provides applications with certain services ( Services) as a unified programming interface. It constitutes a part of the Next Generation Networks

Description

A modern data infrastructure exists in the area of mobile services, among others, from SMS center, MMS center, streaming server, audio, and video server. The basis of these data infrastructure enabling services. These resources infrastructure such as billing gateways, payment gateways, messaging gateways or Location-based services are needed. In order to implement applications in the areas of M- and E -commerce, information and entertainment services, standardized programming interfaces as well as protection and security mechanisms are required. These are provided by Enabling Services. For effective design, implementation and operation of these services powerful components must be provided. They form the basis of innovative service delivery platforms.

Such SDP is thus the interface between the applications and the service infrastructure based on the Operations Support System (OSS ) and business support system (BSS). It consists of the OSS systems that make it possible to design networks and service infrastructure, analyze, monitor, expand, maintain and suppressed. A BSS provides functions which are logically located on the OSS, such as accounting, customer relationship management, billing, content management, content delivery, digital rights management, fraud management, provisioning, rating and service activation.

Lead to standardize their infrastructure network operators and in particular mobile communications companies since 2000 existing enabling services to the service delivery platforms. Drivers for this development are always accelerating rate of requirements through innovation, mobility, miniaturization, and improved interaction.

With an SDP access can be unified on the core elements of a network, thus the development of new services to simplify and speed and efficiency innovation cycle is reached.

List of service delivery platforms

  • Appium 's XWay - programmed in Java SDP, which is actually only provides an application server. However, the limited version for developers includes - GBox called - a simple network simulator ( NSIM ). With NSIM it is possible to develop Parlay -based telecomm applications and test. NSIM but does not support Parlay interfaces - and some incomplete. The GBox is since version 4.0 runs on Linux as well as Windows and provides plugins for Eclipse available that will allow an easy entry.
  • Mobicents - an open source JAIN SLEE project.
