Servílio de Oliveira

Servilio de Oliveira ( born May 6, 1948 in Sao Paulo, Brazil ) is a former Brazilian flyweight boxer. He is also known by his fighting name " Eder de Ébano ".

Career

Before de Oliveira 1969 professional was, he could win the 1968 Latin American Championships, and won at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, the bronze medal in the flyweight. In the semifinals, he lost to the Mexicans Ricardo Delgado on points. He is the currently the only Brazilian who succeeded in boxing to win an Olympic medal.

Oliveira brought the feat to deny his professional career without defeat and draw. However, one must say that his career consisted of only sixteen fights. After all, he was in February 1970 Brazilian flyweight champion and in December of the same year even South American champions in this weight class, after a knockout victory in the seventh round of Ángel Sánchez from Ecuador.

A year later was diagnosed with a detached retina in the eye in Oliveira. This happened in a fight against the Americans Tony Moreno; Oliveira won on points. He was advised to end his career. At least he interrupted her. In June 1977, he started quite a successful comeback against Rodolfo Rodriguez from Argentina, whom he defeated on points. Oliveira then saw one that more fights for his health were too risky and retired now completely back.

After his playing career began as a coach to work and for overseeing the former WBA titlist in the featherweight Valdemir Pereira.
