Sesfontein

Sesfontein ( six sources, Nama: Nani | out ) is the small district town of the same constituency in the Kunene Region in northwestern Namibia. Sesfontein is close to the Hoanib - around 130 kilometers south of Opuwo and 200 kilometers north- west of Khorixas in the transition between Damaraland and Kaokoland.

Fort Sesfontein was built in 1896 by the government of the then German South West Africa as a control base against rinderpest, poaching and smuggling of weapons. The fort is a National Monument and is now used as a luxurious lodge with campsite, safaris and for the tourist development of the surrounding area ( see also worth the African rock engravings of Sosos ).
