Sesvete

Sesvete [ sɛs.ʋɛtɛ ] ( Ger. Saints at Agram (Zagreb) ) is the largest and eastern part of Zagreb in Croatia with 52 411 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2005), which belongs administratively to the capital itself, but an independent self-contained urban settlement area forms.

Geography

The district is located nine kilometers east from Zagreb's main square ( Ban Jelacic Square ) and is 129 meters above sea level and is partly owned by the Medvednica, a small mountain range that Sesvete separates from the northern border region of Zagorje and is thus itself as Zagreb also geographically in the Croatian Prigorje. Settlement areas in the district Sesvete are Adamovec, Belovar Blaguša, Budenec, Cerje, Dobrodol, Drenčec, Dumovec, Ðurđekovec, Gajec, Glavnica, Glavničica, Goranec, Jesenovec, Kašina, Kučilovina, Kučanec, Lužan, Markovo Polje, Moravče, Paruževina, Planina Donja and Gornja, Popovec, Prekvršje, Prepuštovec, Soblinec, Vašašinovec, Šimunčevec, Vuger Selo, Donji and Gornji Vugrovec, Vurnovec, Žerjavinec.

Culture and sights

Sesvete was built after the style of the Baroque " parish church of All Saints " (in Croatian svi = all saints sv. ) named with two bell towers from the 18th century. In the city center there is a baroque mansion, now a museum, was established.

Worth seeing in the surroundings of the place Cerje with its under conservation field maple trees. In Kozelin on the Medvednica, near the place Belovar is one of the oldest populated places is in the territory of the capital city of Zagreb: there finds from the second millennium BC have been recovered.

Tourism is by its proximity to Zagreb and to the eastern part of the Medvednicagebirges an important source of revenue for the city. Due to the excellent transport links and generous spatial conditions, many commercial companies have settled in Seveste. Therefore, every day there are numerous people from Zagreb and the surroundings for shopping in the district.
