The Steinflechtenbär, Yellow Black Point Flechtenbär, yolk yellow moth spinner or the dry grass - lichen Little Bear ( Setina irrorella ) is a butterfly (moth ) from the subfamily of the tiger moths ( Arctiinae ).

Description

The moths have a wingspan of 27-33 millimeters. Their forewings are yellow and have black dots which are arranged transversely in three rows. The hind wings are pale yellow and have either a black dot at the top corners (apex). The wings often appear transparent. Setina irrorella is greater than the Felsenflechtenbär ( Setina roscida ).

The caterpillars are drawn in black or dark brown and yellow and have black hair.

Occurrence

The species occurs throughout Europe and Asia east to the Pacific Ocean in front, but missing in the far north and parts of the Mediterranean area. She lives in mossy and lichen- covered rock corridors, on calcareous and sandy areas and steep, rocky Magerrasen, but also in bogs, meadows and forest on Gentiles. The Steinflechtenbär requires less heat than Setina roscida and usually comes in the level to medium heights before, but it is also eaten in the Limestone Alps to about 2,000 meters above sea level.

Way of life

The nocturnal moths can also be a day, startle the late afternoon especially. They fly from June to August. The caterpillars live from August to June. They pupate under flat stones on the ground and overwinter before they hatch in the spring.
