Setthathirath

Sai Setthathirath I ( also Xai Xettatirat, Chai Chetthatirat, full throne name Somdet Chao Brhat - Anya Udaya Buvana Brhat Jaya Setha Maharajadiraja Buvanadi Adipati Sri Sadhana Kanayudha, * January 24, 1534 as Jaya Varman Setha ( Setthavong ); disappeared in 1571 under mysterious circumstances at Mueang Ong - Kan) was 1548-1571 King of Lan Chang and Lan Na.

Sai Setthathirath was the son of King Phothisarath I and his wife, Queen Yudhi Karma Devi ( Yot Kam Tip ). He was educated at court and provided as Crown Prince with the title of Maha Upayuvaraja. As king of Lan Na, he was elected by the local nobles after the death of his maternal grandfather, where he was proclaimed after his arrival in Chiang Mai on June 18, 1546 as king. The coronation took place on 2 July of the same year. He left Chiang Mai on August 8, 1548 after he learned of his father's death in Luang Phrabang ( Sawa ). He brought the Emerald Buddha ( Phra Kaew ) in the capital of Lan Chang. There he received the pledges of loyalty of his brothers. In 1550, he was crowned as Brhat Upayabudhana Buwana Brhat Jayadipada Sri Sadhana Kanayudha king. But first broke out in Lan Na from a civil war, and after three years of chaos thanked in Lan Na it before May 21, 1551 in favor of Phra Nang Chiraprapha Mahadevi. However, the State Council refused to approve his choice and chose another king.
