Sevilla de Oro was one of the earliest and most important city founded by the Spanish conquistadors in the Amazon basin and lay on the Río Upano, east of the present town of Macas in the Ecuadorian province of Morona Santiago.

Sevilla de Oro was founded in 1575 by José Villanueva de Maldonado on behalf of the Governor of Yaguarzongo, Juan Salinas Loyola.
