Sevran

Sevran is a commune with 50 053 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Seine- Saint- Denis, Ile- de -France region.

Geography

Sevran, approximately 18 kilometers north-east of Paris, in a very urbanized area of Ile de France. The 7:28 km ² large municipality is virtually completely built over. The Canal de l' Ourcq (German: Ourcq Canal ) and the brook Morée run through the area of Sevran. Neighboring municipalities are Villepinte in the north, Aulnay -sous -Bois in the west, the east and Vaujours Livry -Gargan in the south. The settlement areas are contiguous for the most part.

Demographics

With 51 106 inhabitants ( 2006) Servan rather one of the larger conurbations in the department of Seine- Saint- Denis. 1962, the municipality still 17969 inhabitants. A significant growth of population was recorded mainly in the 1970s and 80s. The preliminary peak of the population was registered in 1990 with 48478, since then the number has declined slightly. However, an increase is again to over 50,000 predicted ( official estimate of INSEE ) in 2005.

Servan is located in the suburbs of Paris, typically this is the high population density of 7,000 inhabitants per km ² and the larger than average proportion of foreigners.
