SEW-Eurodrive

The SEW -EURODRIVE GmbH & Co KG has been founded in the 1930s German family in drive technology. The headquarters is located in Bruchsal.

History

On 13 June 1931, the Baden banker Christian Paehr founded the Süddeutsche electric motors works. Main product was the geared motor, which had been developed by the designer Albert upper Moser in 1928. Christian Paehr acquired the rights to this engine from the bankruptcy estate of Upper Moser's company. After the death of Christian Pährs in 1935 his widow Gwendolyn went on the operation.

In 1945, the management of Ernst Wilhelm Blickle, Pährs son was adopted. In 1965, a modular system for geared motors was developed from relatively few parts of a highly specific customer requirements customized product can be implemented with the. The establishment of a joint venture with Brose to develop solutions for electric mobility, in February 2011.

After the death of Ernst Blickle his sons Rainer and Jurgen were in 1987 and 1989 respectively and CEO of the SEW- EURODRIVE Group.

Today SEW -EURODRIVE has 15 production plants in Germany, France, Brazil, China, Finland and the USA, 75 Drive Technology Center ( assembly plants ) in 45 countries, over 15,000 employees and an annual turnover of around 2.5 billion euros.

Currently SEW Euro Drive is led by three managers.

Foundation

On November 30, 1989 Memorial Foundation was established to Ernst Wilhelm Blickle of Edeltraud Blickle. The aim of the foundation is the development, consolidation and further development of scientific knowledge in engineering ( basic research and applied research) and industry to promote (management, management science, corporate policies ).

Ernst Blickle Prize

Since 1991, worth 100,000 € Ernst Blickle Prize is first annually, awarded every two years since 2000. The Foundation Board elects the help of a search committee from the winner according to the foundation's charter. Previous winners are:

Graduate Prize

The Graduate Prize is awarded annually since 2002 to up to ten per graduate students in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and economics, which are characterized in a reasonable time by high performance in the form of good work.
