Club history

Forerunner of today's club was founded in 1907, German club Opava FV, from 1909 DSV Opava. As the official Year of SFC Opava applies, however, in 1945 when a club called SK Slezan Opava was established, which, however, had nothing to do with the same club that existed from 1908 to 1931.

Only in 1955 played the, now called Banik Opava club nationwide. 1972 was a new stadium to be completed; This year Opava rose to the then three-pronged 3 league. In the first season Ostroj Opava took place, the club was now called, the eleventh. After a reorganization of the Czechoslovak league system in 1977, the club was second-rate. The amendment was withdrawn in 1981, Opava had to go back to the third tier. 1985 Opava won the group B of the 3rd league and entered in the second league ( 1.ČNL ), in which the club played along in the following years ahead. Ironically, in the 1992/93 season, in which due to the upcoming split of Czechoslovakia could rise six teams from the second division to the new Czech first league, it was enough for Opava only for tenth place. In the following season 1993/94 Opava escaped the rise of three points.

In 1995 it was ready, the renamed FC Opava Kaucuk club rose to the highest Czech league. On July 30, 1995, however, they lost the opening game before 11,376 spectators with 1:2 against Petra Drnovice. The season was still very successful, Opava occupied at the end of the sixth, the. Hitherto best finish in club history

1996/97 played Opava in the UEFA Intertoto Cup in a group with KAMAZ Naberezhnye Chelny, Spartak Varna, TSV 1860 München and LKS Lodz and finally finished in second place. In the league Opava was ninth. In the following years Opava played against relegation, which could not be prevented in 2000, but the club managed the immediate resurgence. The team's 2000/ 01 too weak for the Gambrinus league and entered with only 18 points as Table again. Once again, the team rose but once again. 2004 was the SFC Opava, though just barely, keeping the class.

In 2005 the team was re- Table, which would have had a descent to the second division result. In all the years the club had around two million euros of debt accumulated and reported, after a long, opaque summer theater only for the " Moravskoslezský Přebor ", the 5th league. There managed the club 's debt, the team dominated the league as desired and pointed at the end of the season the impressive record of 28 wins and two draws from so remained unbeaten at 105 and shot only 11 conceding goals. In the summer of 2006, the SFC Opava bought the second division license from SK Slavia Hanácká Kroměříž and was back in the second league. From this, however, we had to descend into the third-class Moravskoslezská Fotbalová league as a table next to last after the 2009/10 season, but sovereign succeeded the immediate resurgence. The 2012/13 season was finished on the 16th place in the table, which reflects the last place and thus the renewed decline in the third league.

In his previous seven seasons in the 1st League Opava had an average attendance of 9,492, the second highest after 1 FC Brno.
