SFR

SFR ( Société Française de radiotéléphonie ), headquartered in Paris, is the second largest mobile operator in France. SFR operates a GSM, GPRS and UMTS/HSDPA- and 4G standards-based mobile network; plus it has a broadband Internet access offer. SFR has about 21.3 million mobile customers and 5.2 million Internet Landline Offer (as of 2013).

Background

SFR took over in July 2008 Neuf Cegetel complete, up to then second largest fixed-line provider in France. The business will be continued since April 2009 under the brand name of SFR.

SFR is since June 2011 is a 100% subsidiary of Vivendi, Vodafone previously been involved with 44% of the shares. After Vivendi announced its intention to bring or want to sell SFR to the stock market, there in the spring of 2014 it came to a bidding contest to acquire SFR competing bids for the French competitor Numericable and Bouygues Telecom.
