History

The sports community Egelsbach going back to the predecessor clubs Turnverein of 1874, the Turngemeinde from 1885 and the football club Egelsbach of 1903. After the Second World War in 1945 the military government ordered to set up a sports community. The SG Egelsbach was founded on 10 November 1945.

The first football team SG Egelsbach was represented several times in the DFB Cup. 1976/77 survived to the first round with a 3-0 victory in the first FC Mülheim, in the second round they lost to VfL Osnabrück in front of 3,000 spectators with 0:2. In the DFB-Pokal 1980/81 SG played after a victory over TuS Neuendorf in the 2nd round against the Bundesliga 1.FC Kaiserslautern and lost before 5500 visitors with 1:3 goals.

1994 won the SG Egelsbach the Hessen Cup and qualified again for the DFB - Awards 1994 / 95th Again, the 1st FC Kaiserslautern opponents of the sports community, the honorable retired before 7,000 spectators with 0:2 from the affair. In the same year was Egelsbach founding member of the Regionalliga Süd, in the team until their relegation played for three years. Financial problems led subsequently to a further sporty descent. Currently (as of season 2013/14 ) occurs at the first men's team in the eight-year county league Offenbach.
