Shady Point ( Shady Point) is a town in Le Flore County in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. In the census of 2010 Shady Point had 1,026 inhabitants.

Geography

The city is located on U.S. Highway 271 and has an area of about 6.6 square kilometers. The nearest major town of Fort Smith, Arkansas is about 30 miles as the crow flies. Shady Point is located approximately 25 kilometers southeast of the Robert S. Kerr reservoir, a popular recreational area, including water sports, hiking and fishing and hunting activities offers.

History

1891 was established a post office of the first settlers on the site of the present town, and built there a part of the railway line in the Kansas City, Pittsburg and Gulf Railroad.
