Shailendra Kumar Upadhyaya

Shailendra Kumar Upadhyaya ( born September 17, 1929 in Kurnuwl, Benares, India, † May 9, 2011 on Mount Everest, Nepal, also: Upadhyay ) was a Nepalese politician.

Upadhyay was 1972-1978 Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations in New York and from 1986 to 1990 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal.

He died on 9 May 2011 in an attempt of a Mount Everest climb. He wanted to break the age record of the Ascension as the oldest person.
