Shake the Disease

Shake the Disease is a song by British band Depeche Mode. It was released in April 1985 as a single from their album The Singles 81 → 85 In the UK, the song reached number 18 in the Federal Republic of Germany # 4 on the charts. It is one of the few singles the band that are not found on a studio album.

History

Shake the Disease was recorded in early 1985 with Daniel Miller and Gareth Jones and was the first single from the compilation album, followed by the second new song of the album, It's Called a Heart. Shake the Disease Sampling Voices used similar to the along strike to a metal grid. Alan Wilder said the song would begin the "essence of the band" one.

Music Video

The music video was the first of the band with director Peter Care There was extensive knitting technique used to make it look as if would fall the band members.

Reception

Ned Raggett of Allmusic described the interplay between the vocals of Dave Gahan and Martin Gore as "lovely". The package was " sly, sensuous, and just harsh enough, a combination of clattering noise samples and synth wash and soothing melody". He gave the play four out of five stars.
