Shakey Jake Harris

Shakey Jake Harris ( born April 12, 1921 in Earle (Arkansas ); † 2 March 1990 in Forrest City ) was an American blues singer and songwriter.

Life

Harris was born as James D. Harris in Earle and went at the age of seven years with his parents to Chicago, where he played in various Blue ensemble. In addition, he was active as a mechanic and gamblers.

Harris ' first single he released in 1958 under the label of "Artistic Records " and collaboration with Magic Sam, Syl Johnson and Willie Dixon. Only two years later he published with the label " Bluesville Records " his first album with Jack McDuff.

He owned a nightclub and his own music label, but had to abandon this due to illness and died at the age of 68 years.
