Shakhtarsk

Schachtarsk (Ukrainian Шахтарськ; Russian Шахтёрск / Schachtjorsk ) is a mining and industrial city of regional importance in eastern Ukraine with about 50,000 inhabitants ( 2013) and is the administrative center of the raion Schachtarsk.

Founded in the town was in 1764. Since the enhanced degradation of coal in place of this grew from the mid-19th century to a city. This status has Schachtarsk since 1953.

Geography

The city is located in the Donets Basin in the Donetsk Oblast. The Oblastzentrum Donetsk is in the east direction 49 km and 19 km to reach the city gate to the west over the highway N21.

Boroughs

The municipality has a total of 60,900 inhabitants (2013 ) and is divided into the city itself and the three municipal council municipalities:

  • Kontarne ( Контарне ) consisting of the settlements of urban type Kontarne and Moskowske ( Московське )
  • Serdyte ( Сердите ) consisting of the urban-type settlement Serdyte and the settlements Dubove ( Дубове ) and Lobaniwka ( Лобанівка ).
  • Stischkiwske ( Стіжківське ) consisting of the urban-type settlement and the settlements Stischkiwske Winnyzke ( Вінницьке ) and Tschumaky ( Чумаки ).

Furthermore, the 5 settlements Viktoriya subject to ( Вікторія ), brains ( Гірне ) Dorofijenko ( Дорофієнко ) Saritschne ( Зарічне ) and Kyschtschenko ( Кищенко ) directly to the city council.

Rajon

Schachtarsk is the administrative seat of the homonymous Rajons, but is not itself a part of him. The Rajon Schachtarsk (Ukrainian Шахтарський район ) has 20,627 inhabitants (July 2012) on an area of 1,194 km ². The population density is 17 inhabitants per km ².
