Shaki Khanate

The Sheki Khanate (also Shakki, Schekhi, Şəki ) was a state in present-day Azerbaijan, which existed from 1500 to 1819 something. The capital was the city of the same name Sheki, today Şəki. It was in the north-west of Azerbaijan, north of the river Kura.

History

The rule of Sheki was founded in 1500, when the area of the Shirvanshah became independent. It later became a khanate. From 1736 it was part of Persia under Nadir Shah, after his death in 1747 the area became independent. Soon it but was conquered by the Khanate Quba under Husayn ` Ali. 1761 to 1765 it was part of Dagestan. In 1806 it became part of the Russian Empire, which was confirmed in 1813 after the Treaty of Gulistan. 1819 the khanate was dissolved and the territory became part of the government Schemacha.

After the dissolution of the Khanate of the capital was renamed Nuxa.
