Shakra

Shakra is a Swiss hard rock band from Trub ( Bern region ) in the mid- 1990s, was formed. The band plays hard, crunchy rock and is often called as the successor of the famous Swiss band Krokus. The band's name comes from Shakra chakra, resulting in an esoteric Asian teaching the seven centers of the body describes, through which the energy flows. This election did not turn out esoteric reasons, but rather because the name short, pronounceable, concise and did not sound like any other band name.

History

First stage experience collected the original line in the year 1990, then still under their old band name " Ruckus ". Four years later, focused on the Emmental hard rockers as the opening act of Krokus, Gotthard and Chromig Rose on stage. As of 1995, called the band Shakra and made her reputation as a compelling live band all honor. No nonsense and no-frills hard rock soon became the band's trademark.

Two years later Shakra signed a worldwide production and distribution deal with the label Point Music. The self-titled debut album was released in 1998 Shakra, a self-production (as well as subsequent releases ) of the guitarist Thom Blunier. Then in 1999 appeared the second album Moving Force. While touring with Uriah Heep the first live CD The Live Side was born.

After another career step with Power Ride (2001 ) was followed by a low blow for the band because the singer Pete Wiedmer Shakra had to leave for health reasons. But Shakra could not be dissuaded from the course and agreed with Mark Fox a charismatic successor. Fox, at the time only 23 years old, mastered his first appearance as frontman of Shakra at the Bang Your Head Festival 2002 in front of 15,000 spectators Balingen with flying colors. The successful performance follow festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Rock Machina in Spain. 2003 the fourth studio album Rising was released, which held seven weeks in the Swiss album charts. Even in Germany they managed to Emmentaler hard rockers in the charts, and was followed by headlining shows in France.

In 2005 the band moved to the label AFM Records, where first appeared the new album case and a little later then the entire back catalog was re-released. The album was promoted by a European tour in support of Hammerfall and Stratovarius. Other highlights include appearances opening for Whitesnake (June 2006) and at the Hallenstadion ( 1 July 2006), where they opened for Guns N ' Roses. In spring 2007 the band released the sixth studio album Infected. On May 26, 2009 Mark Fox announced his departure from Shakra known at the end of October 2009. On 3 November 2009 the band the ethnic Indian John Prakesh found as a new singer. The so far last album Back On Track was published on 25 February 2011 and again topped its predecessor with an entry at number two on the Swiss charts.
