Shamsi Airfield

The Shamsi airbase is a military airfield in the Pakistani province of Baluchistan. It is located in 320 kilometers southwest of Quetta near the town of Washki.

In February 2009, the Times published satellite images with shots of several General Atomics MQ - 1 at the Shamsi airbase. According to the report the basis for drone attacks in Pakistan was used.

From this base, the U.S. military or the CIA launched by end of 2011 drone attacks on al -Qaeda and Taliban in the Pakistani-Afghan border area.

After the attack on the Pakistani base Salalah in November 2011, the Pakistani government asked the U.S. government to withdraw its armed forces from the base within 15 days. This was completed on December 11, 2011 and the military airfield over to the armed forces of Pakistan.
