Shane Mahan

Shane Patrick Mahan ( born 1964 in Greenville, Michigan ) is a make-up, special effects artist and puppeteer who has been nominated for Iron Man for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 2009.

Life

He grew up in Greenville, Michigan and went to the Greenville High School. After graduating in 1981, he went to Hollywood. There he worked from 1983 for the Stan Winston Studio to the film The Terminator. In the following decades he worked for the company as head of Kreeatureneffekte on such films as Predator, Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds. In 2007, he became co-owner of the company.

After the death of Stan Winston in 2008 he founded with three other long-term employees of the company, Lindsay MacGowan, J. Alan Scott and John Rosengrant the studio Legacy Effects. In 2009 he was nominated for the movie Iron Man, along with John Nelson, Ben Snow and Daniel Sudick for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects.
