Shane Peacock (ice hockey)

Shane Peacock (born 7 July 1973 in Edmonton, Alberta ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player with a German passport, who played most recently at the Nuremberg Ice Tigers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

Shane Peacock who plays since the age of four hockey, began his professional career in 1989 at the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the Canadian Junior Football League WHL. Played there the right shooter, whose nickname is due to his Indian origin " The Chief", five years, and became one of the best offensive defenseman in the league. NHL Entry Draft 1991, the right-handed shooter was pulled at the 60th place of the Pittsburgh Penguins. After retiring from the Junior League in 1994, the Kalamazoo Wings Peacock joined in the International Hockey League. After the defender had been in three years in the minor league no contract with an NHL team, he opted for a move to Europe.

For the season 1997/98 Shane Peacock joined the DEL for Düsseldorf EG, after their withdrawal from the DEL 1998, he signed a contract with the Kassel Huskies. Due to its good performance in the following season, the newly founded Munich Barons were aware of the defender and committed him for the season 1999 / 00th Already in the first season, Peacock was with the Barons German masters. The Canadian was judged to be the best defender in the league, a year later he reached with the team from Munich the finals again, but there they lost the Adler Mannheim. Peacock was chosen for excellence, especially in the play- offs to the DEL All-Star. After another year in Munich, the Canadians decided a change to the then reigning German champion Kölner Haie. While he was with the people of Cologne in the 2002/03 season runner-up, however, changed after only one year on the Rhine to the Baron 's successor Hamburg Freezers. There the right shooter was three years to the service providers in the defense before he signed a one-year contract with the Frankfurt Lions for season 2006/ 07. During the summer break in 2006 Peacock received the German citizenship. In the 2007 /08 season the defender signed a one-year contract with the Nuremberg Ice Tigers. There he accomplished on 4 January 2008 its 400th Scorer point, which makes it next to Mirko Lüdemann the best defensive player in the history of the DEL.
