Shanghai International Port (Group)

Shanghai International Port (Group) ( SIPG; Chinese上海 国际 港 务(集团)股份有限公司) is a Chinese company based in Shanghai. The company is listed on the stock index SSE 50. SIPG operates the terminals at the Port of Shanghai.

The company was founded in 2003, as a result of a reorganization of the Port Authority supervision and operations were separated. 2004 SIPG was transformed into a closed joint stock company, which is majority controlled by the city of Shanghai. The remaining shares are distributed among various private investors.

The company is headed by Lu Haihu. 2006 suggested SIPG 537 mn tons of cargo to. In the port 2006, around 55,000 ships, including 23,000 container ships, loaded. The more than 20,000 employees generated sales in 2006 of 1.32 billion U.S. dollars and a net profit of 270 million U.S. dollars.
