Shanghai-Museum

The Shanghai Museum (abbreviation :上海 博物馆, traditional characters :上海 博物馆; Pinyin: Shanghai Bowuguan; engl Shanghai Museum. ) Is one of the cultural centers of the city of Shanghai in China. The museum was founded located on Nanjing West Road and first in the former horse-racing club in 1952, it was relocated to the Henan - south road in 1959. In 1992 it was decided to locate the museum on the People's Square. The architect of the new building was Xing Tonghe. Construction began in 1993, the building was completed in 1996. It is the fourth largest in China and over 30 meters high. The Museum has ten galleries that provide a complete overview of the Chinese art and culture. It houses over 120,000 objects.
