The Shanghai Pudong Street Circuit is a temporary track in the Pudong district of the metropolis Shanghai in China. The track is located in the business and high-tech district of Shanghai. Here is the finale of the DTM was launched on 28 November 2010.
The first race of the DTM was launched on 18 July 2004 but not counted for the championship. The track was then 2.85 km long. In the first race the car of Bernd Mayländer crack when driving over a manhole cover from the bracket and the Mercedes -Benz of Mayländer remained abruptly decelerated by the impact on the manhole cover, standing on the track in the middle. The race was stopped and all 72 manhole covers welded in place. Because of this time lag, only the first race was restarted, the second race was canceled. Gary Paffett on Mercedes -Benz won the race.
2010 started the DTM again in Pudong, this time with a 2.465 km long, new route. Originally it was a DTM race in Shanghai planned at the Shanghai Pudong Street Circuit on November 6, as the season finale in 2011. The race, however, was canceled before the season starts. It has not been approved by the Chinese motor sport authorities, since this weekend is already the World Touring Car Championship at the Guangdong International Circuit discharges an event.
