Shaoguan

Shaoguan (Chinese韶关市) is a prefecture-level city in northern Guangdong province.

The administrative area of Shaoguan has an area of 18,380 km ² and approximately 3.15 million inhabitants ( end of 2004).

Administrative Divisions

At county level, Shaoguan sets of three districts, two urban districts, four districts and one autonomous district together. These are:

(1) City District Zhenjiang (浈江区), 523 km ², 360,000 inhabitants, center, seat of the city government;
(2) City District Wujiang (武江区), 682 km ², 230,000 inhabitants;
(3) City Qujiang District (曲江区), 1651 km ², 300,000 inhabitants;
(4) City Lechang (乐昌市), 2391 km ², 520,000 inhabitants;
(5) City Nanxiong (南雄市), 2361 km ², 460,000 inhabitants;
(6 ) circle Shixing (始兴县), 2174 km ², 240,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Taiping (太平镇);
( 7) circle Renhua (仁化县), 2223 km ², 220,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Renhua (仁化镇);
( 8) Circle Wengyuan (翁源县), 2234 km ², 380,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Longxian (龙仙镇);
(9 ) District Xinfeng (新丰县), 2016 km ², 240,000 inhabitants, capital: Street District Fengcheng (丰城街道);
(10 ) Autonomous County of Yao Ruyuan (乳源瑶族自治县), 2125 km ², 200,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community RUCHENG (乳城镇).

Economy, tourism

In recent years, Shaoguan developed from a purely industrial city into a tourist town. In January 2002, Shaoguan has been declared by the State Office of the People's Republic of China to one of the excellent tourist cities in the country.
