Shaoshan

Shaoshan (韶山 市Shaoshan Shì ) a county-level city, which belongs to the administrative area of the prefecture-level city in Xiangtan, central China's Hunan Province. The city has about 118,000 inhabitants ( end of 2011) on an area of ​​247.3 km ² ( population density. 477.2 inhab / km ²).

The birthplace of Mao Zedong, the town of Shaoshan, belongs to the administrative area of ​​the city. During the Cultural Revolution the city was the target of millions of Red Guards.
