Shapley 1
Shapley 1 (Sp 1 or PN G329.0 01.9 ) is a ring-shaped planetary nebula in the constellation square, which is about 1,000 light- years away. It has an angular extent of 1.1 arc seconds, which corresponds under consideration of the distance to a diameter of a third light-year. In the center a double system is with an orbital period of 2.9 days.
Shapley 1 was discovered in 1936 by Harlow Shapley and cataloged.
